About Laura P. Ramos
Laura is a licensed Personal Injury attorney in Texas. Laura graduated from Baylor Law School in 2011 (Dean’s List 2009-2011). At Baylor, she underwent the law school’s rigorous trial advocacy program, ranked third in the nation by the U.S. News and World Report. During law school, she worked with Steve Pastrana at Pastrana Law Firm (Summer 2010), Slack & Davis, LLP (Summer 2010), and the Williamson County Attorney’s Office (Summer 2010). Prior to that, she attended St. Mary’ University where she graduated cum laude with a Criminal Justice degree. She served as Judicial Intern her last summer of college at the U.S. District Court Western District of Texas- San Antonio Division for the Honorable W. Royal Furgeson, Jr.
Upon graduating law school at Baylor, Laura moved to Harlingen, Texas where she gained extensive civil litigation and pre-litigation experience at a boutique insurance defense firm, Hodge & James, LLC. She defended individuals and corporations in dozens of cases throughout South Texas in matters involving personal injury, employment discrimination, product liability, sexual assault, Texas Healthcare Liability Act claims, dram shop and construction defect, among others. The firm’s Commercial General Liability insurance clients included some of the largest insurance companies in the nation.
After years on the defense side, Laura decided that the place where she could make a true difference in people’s lives was as a plaintiffs’ lawyer, representing injured individuals who are mostly helpless against large insurance companies and all of their resources. Laura practiced at a plaintiffs’ firm in Austin for approximately two and a half years, polishing her litigation skills while managing a fast-paced, high-volume practice. At that law firm, Laura successfully handled dozens of plaintiffs’ cases from beginning to end, earning her shining reviews from her former clients.
Steve Pastrana and Laura decided to join forces again at Pastrana Law Firm in April of 2017 where she currently practices alongside close friends and colleagues. As part of her practice, Laura strives to provide frequent pro-bono legal assistance to clients through the Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas office and the Austin Bar Association free legal clinics for U.S. Veterans.
Outside of her law practice, Laura enjoys outdoor activities (running, paddle boarding, camping), playing racquetball, and spending time with family and friends. Laura also enjoys spending time outdoors with her boyfriend and their two rescue long-haired Chihuahuas, Romeo and Kitty. She is fluent in written and spoken Spanish and Portuguese. She was born and raised in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico.
Laura has earned Avvo’s Clients’ Choice Award 2017
